Coaches' Ethics

  1. I will teach the athletes that doing one's best is as important as winning so that my team will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game.
  2. I will teach sportsmanship.
  3. I will teach and abide by the rules of the game.
  4. I will accept the judgments of the officials of the game, umpires have the final say.
  5. I will conduct myself according to the policies, procedures and bylaws outlined by CMSA.
  6. I will not harass players, in attempts to encourage or dissuade participation on the team I coach.
  7. I will ensure all athletes get equal instruction, support and playing time.
  8. I will teach my team to have fun.
  9. I will have at least one practice a week.
  10. I will be familiar with and operate under CMSA/Softball Canada rules.
  11. I will remember that children need a coach they can respect. I will be generous with praise and set a good example.
  12. I will obtain proper training and continue to upgrade my coaching skills.
  13. I will at all times follow the ABC rule or the Universal Rotation Rule and play my players fairly.
